Releasing the International Community Service Students, Waryono: Please Leave Good Impression

Yogyakarta - Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Waryono released 10 students to follow the Thematic International Community Service program in Cambodia, Tuesday (29/7).

On that occasion, Waryono advised students to leave a good impression while staying in Cambodia

"It would be better if you leave a good impression there, so in the future we will not only send the students but also accept the students. As already happened in the Prophet Muhammad era, he came to Medina because he was invited. Because people knew his quality," Message Waryono in the Office for Research & Community Engagement meeting room.

Waryono explained, history notes that there is a relationship in Islamic spreading between Cambodia and Indonesia, for example Syarif Hidayatullah who stopped in Cambodia on his way to Mecca. Waryono hoped that students who were going to the International Community Service program can continue the historical record.

"There may be inscriptions of (your) names there, so you can get remembered" said the Doctor of Interpretation of UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

Meanwhile, The Director of University Office for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Al-Makin said that the students going to Cambodia is chosen students.

“You are the chosen students. From 56 registered students, 24 passed the interview session, and the 10 students were chosen.” Said the writer of “Nabi-Nabi Nusantara”.

“Please don’t make any difficulties with your field supervisor during the community service program and keep coordinating your activities with your field supervisor.” He concluded.

The International Community Service Team arrived in Phnom Pehn (31/07/19). They were warmly welcomed by The Ambassador Cambodia to Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Sudirman Haseng. The welcoming ceremony was attended by UIN International Community Service Team consisted of ten representative students who come from various disciplines: Lutfi Rofiyatun (Library Science), Bangkit Tri Utomo (English Literature), Mutrofin (Islamic Social Development), Iwan Hantoro (Communication and Islamic Broadcasting), Afit Rezky Sandi (Chemistry), Yunita Eri (Physics Education), Rezaldy Nurul (Islamic Banking), Wenny Nurhidayati (Psychology), Dliya'ul Haq (Islamic Family Law), and Hidayah Hariani (Quranic Science and Tafsir), University Office for Research and Community Service (LPPM) was represented by Mr. Muhrisun Afandi, and The Field Supervisor, Eka Sulistiyowati.

International community service program was firstly implemented by UIN Sunan Kalijaga as a follow up from University Office for Research and Community Service Director’s visit to Cambodia on April 2019.

The community service program is planned to conduct in Chroy Metrey Mukampoul District, Kandal Province, Cambodia on July 29, 2019 – August 22, 2019 with the theme "Empowering Social - Religious Communities through Islamic School Mentoring.". Specifically, the community service will be conducted in three locations: The Cambodian Islamic Center (CIC) Muslim community, the Cambodian Indonesian Friendship School in Prey Veng, and the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI). The Community Service Team will stay in Prey Veng and CIC until August 22, 2019.
