2 Students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Participated in the SAVIOR II Program

UIN Sunan Kalijaga continues to encourage students to study abroad. After successfully holding SAVIOR in 2018 for the first time, this year SAVIOR will send 11 students to explore academic activities in four countries. The second SAVIOR program sent two students to Brunei Darussalam. They were Raisatul Mufahamah from the Department of Islamic History and Culture and Alfi Febriany from the Departmentof Islamic Finance Management (FEBI).

The students studied at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) which situated on Gadong St. Both of them stayed at theKolej Kediamanor UNISSA Residence College for 11 days.

In the first week, the students followed the schedule which had created by UNISSA's Centre of Promotion of Knowledge and Language (CPKL) under the supervision of Dr. Halimaturradiah binti Dato Seri Setia Haji Metussin. They attended the Convocation ceremonies of theKolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama(KUPU) in Bandar Seri Begawan. Subsequently, they were invited to visit the Tahfizh al-Qur'an Institute of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and the Khazanah Hall which was holding an annual event, theMajlis Ilmu. The raised theme for this year was "Manuskrip Islam Mercu Tanda Ketamadunan Umat". The Majlis Ilmu has several events such as the inaugural forum, lectures, seminars, and exhibitions. Finally, they visited the Brunei History Centre.

In the second week, the students were assigned to the relevant department. Raisatul Mufahamah, a student from the Adab and Cultural Sciences Faculty majoring in Islamic Cultural History attended lectures in the Department of Islamic History and Civilization at the Faculty of Islamic Development Management. She attended lectures in which the Arabic language is mostly used Arabic as the language of instruction. In addition, she also was invited by the faculty to visit the Kampong Ayer Gallery, the Museum of Royal Regalia, the Brunei Maritime Museum, and the history research center called PenBorneo.

Another student, Alfi Febriany was delegated at the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Finance (FEKIM). She was under supervised by Dayang Nurul Nabilah binti Haji Aji who also the Head of the undergraduate program . The academic activities which she involved include: taking a part of faculty activities, attending classes, attending study visits, consulting and presenting undergraduate thesis proposal. English is frequently used as the language of instruction in this program. The faculty activities that were followed by student were4th Tunas Harapan Programorganized by the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Finance. This activity took place at Serasa High School which had aimed at increasing social awareness about bullying. Study visit was held at the Majlis Ugama Islam Brunei (MUIB) which learned the management of zakat, waqf, and baitulmal in Brunei Darussalam. In addition, she also had the opportunity to consult and followed by the presentation of the undergraduate thesis proposal. Then she had the chance to visit the Ministry of Finance of Brunei Darussalam, the Brunei Business Center (The Box), and sharing session with IFESS (Islamic Finance and Economics Student Association).

SAVIOR participants joined academic activities by attending classes, study visits, attending faculty and university activities. By joining this program they had culture excursion with other students in UNISSA. With the differences inenvironment and academic atmosphere, the students got a wider perspective, insight, and knowledge.
