Taken place in the Rector workspace on December 5th, 2016 has been signed the MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) between State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta with Rector of Zaituna University of Tunis. One important point of the MoA is a collaboration between the two universities in creating programs of Double Degree for Master students (S2) and Doctor (S3). As expressed by the Deputy Rector of the Student Affairs & Cooperation (Dr. Waryono) that the signing of the MoA is a continuation of the signing of the MoU in 2013, in which both parties want to contribute to the improvement of each other together human resources especially for Islamic Studies. On the same occasion the Rector Zaituna University, Prof. Hichem Grissa, revealed that Islamic studies between State Islamic University (UIN) with Zaituna has some of the same characteristics such as the emphasis on the study of the tolerance principles and respect the values of humanity. Before the signing of the MoA, Prof. Hichem has the opportunity to deliver his speech for a public lecture in front of the post graduate students of the S2 and S3 UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta under the theme: al-Ittijahat al-Afkar al-Islamiyya al-Mu'ashiroh ba'da al-Rabi ' al-' Araby. On that occasion, Prof. Hichemcomplimented the Indonesia Moslem that come with non-violence and war and Islam can co-exist with democracy. Although Tunis is the country with the school of thought (madzhab) of the majority of Maliki school of thought but this country is very open with other (madzhab), even a Prof. Hichemsaid that, for Indonesia students who study in Zaituna with school of thought (madzab) Shafi’i after finishing their study, they are still holding Syafi’i school of thought (madzab). Initiate this program in 2016, the three S3 students of Post Graduate program were sent for International Arabic language through joining Sandwich Program for 6 months at the Zaituna University.
