Science development is very important in a campus. Therefore, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, among 11 other Universities under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (PTKIN), and six universities in French signed academic and research cooperation for various scientific fields at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (29/03/2017). The partnership signed is expected to boost academic programs and research activities of the respective institution.
The signing was attended by the chairman of Rector Forum of Islamic Higher Institutions, Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada MA, Scientific and Technological Cooperation Attache of the French Embassy for Indonesia, Prof Dr Ing Nicolas Gascoin DEA MBA, and Chairman of Institut National des Sciences appliques (INSA) France, Prof. Dr. Jean Marley Castelan. In addition, President Ir Joko Widodo and French President Francois Hollande are also scheduled to inaugurate this cooperation, on Wednesday evening this Thursday.
The eleven campuses include UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, UIN Ar-Raniry Aceh, UIN Sunan Gunung Jati Bandung, UIN Alauddin Makassar, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, UIN Sumatra Utara, UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, UIN Syarif Kasim Riau, UIN walisongo Semarang, UIN Sunan Kalijaga and UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya.
Whereas, the universities from France are National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon, of Center Val de Loire, of Rennes, of Rouen, of Strasbourg, and of Tolouse.
Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada MA expressed his appreciation for the willingness of the government and the French higher education institutions to establish academic and research cooperation with higher education institutions in Indonesia. He hoped that the cooperation could encourage the development of research for the improvement of publications and patents both 11 PTKIN and 6th French INSA
"The signing of this agreement will enable Indonesian Islamic universities to be involved in the development of knowledge-based industries. This allows PTKIN to engage more actively in the development of science for society, "said Dede Rosyada.
A copy of the matrix of cooperation mentions 11 fields of science included in the program of cooperation across the universities involved. These are planning and urban design, energy, electrical engineering, mathematics, engineering machinery, automatics, informatics, physics and fundamental science, environmental science, agriculture, and architecture.
French INSA chairman, Prof Dr Jean Marley Castelan, also expressed the hope of French government and higher education institutions that the eleven universities could be the of academic and research development. "We have a great hope that this cooperation results in mutually positive effects on academic and research programs of all parties," he said.
UIN Sunan Kalijaga Rector, Prof. KH Yudian Wahyudi MA Ph.D, expects that the cooperation agreement supports the development of the university he leads. UIN Sunan Kalijaga, he said, is developing the faculty of engineering faculty, both undergraduate and master's programs. "In addition, we are also finalizing the plan of opening the faculty of medicine and health sciences. We very much hope that this program can support these efforts, "he said.
Yudian added that this cooperation is expected to boost internationally indexed publications and products that could be patented. "Clearly, this partnership makes the Islamic higher institutions a few steps ahead in scientific development," said Yudian. (Siti Hidayah-chabib/Humas)
