Seven Countries are Involved in International Short Course Activities, The Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business UIN Sunan Kalijaga

To enhance the competitiveness of the global world, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga held international academic development activities. Thursday 7-13 October 2019, FEBI held International Short Course that brought the theme “Understanding Islamic Social and Microfinance-its Relevance and Contribution to Economic Development”. This Forum involved participants from seven different countries. Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Prof. Drs. KH. Yudian Wahyudi, MA., Ph.D. officially opened this event.

Prof. Yudian Wahyudi in his speech said that all worship is commanded by Allah such as salat, zakat, and so on besides having a spiritual dimension, but also lead to economic dimension as well. Consequently, the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business has a big responsibility to implement devotion to Allah by developing Islamic Economies to the international level. This forum is very important to be carried out to the Faculty of Islamic Economic and Business is increasingly known internationally.

UIN Sunan Kalijaga committed to becoming The world-class university by enhancing organizational performance. This is implemented by organizing an international event for an international publication. Prof. Yudian Wahyudi emphasized that UIN Sunan Kalijaga has the potential to become an international standard campus with foreign language skills. Meanwhile, Dean of Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business Dr. H. Syafiq Mahmadah Hanafi, M. Ag., in his report said that purpose by make the theme of this event is giving understanding about microfinance, to bridge entrepreneurs and small businesses to get access to capital from various other banking services to develop their businesses.

Through this forum, everyone would collaborate, talk and think together. Discussing various socio-economic skills in Islamic economics perspective. This forum would also strengthen the fraternity and networking between universities in global connections. Dean of Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business hopes, through 7 days of intensive training, the participants would get to know, understand, and gain experience in sharia social and microfinance practices in sharia banking in Indonesia, which can be used among the participants.

The International Short Course activity was attended by 10 foreign students from Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Syria, China, and South Korea, and 26 participants from various universities in Indonesia, consisting of Muhammadiyah University of Malang, IAIN Jember, IAIN Salatiga, IAIN Batu Cage, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, IAIN Imam Bonjol, IAIN Surakarta, IAIN Palopo, IAIN Palopo, UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University, UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanudin Banten, Airlangga University, IAIN Pekalongan and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

Meanwhile, the training materials that would be received by the participants consist of Maqhasid Syria for Social and Microfinance by Dr. Aly Aabdel Moneim (Direktur MI Indonesia-ITH), Islamic Social Finance and Economy of Indonesia by Dr. Dadang Muljawan (Bank Indonesia), Waqf for Public Services: Indonesia’S Experiences by Dr. Fahruroji, Lc., MA., ( Badan Wakaf Indonesia), Waqf Era 4.0 by Prof. Dr. Raditya Sukmana, SE., MA. (Universitas Airlangga), BMT and Islamic Microfinance by Mursida Rambe (BMT Beringharjo), Waqf Insurance b Tuhirman (CEO Generali), Islamic Microfinance and Nasional Economy by. M. Nurzaman (Deputy Direktur Komite Nasional Keuangan Syari’ah), Zakat in The Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 by. Irfan Syauqi Beik (Baznas), Islamic Microfinance and Waqf in the Global Context by soc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Asmy (International Islamic University Malaysia), BMT and Islamic Microfinance by Abdussalam SE., M.E. (BMT UGT Sidogiri), BMT Beringharjo Core Operational System by Dra. Hj. Mursida Rambe dan Ahmad Sadjid Laeli (BMT Beringharjo).

All of the participants of the International Short Course would also follow international seminar by theme Strengthening Developing Countries Readiness Toward Islamic Finance and Banking Sustainability. this seminar would present keynote speaker Archandra Tahar and also Moh. Azmy (IIUM), Prof. Hajime Kimizama ( Kushiro University), Dr. Dadang Muljawan (Bank Indonesia) as a seminar speaker. All of the participants would follow a trip to Seven Sky, Alkid Jogja, and BMT Bringharjo. The activity was closed with an outbound agenda to Cemoro Sewu beach.

Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business UIN Sunan Kalijaga as the initiator of the International Short Course activity would like to express its highest thanks to all partners who have collaborated in the success of this activity.
