UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta offers an educational and research model that is:

“EXCELLENT” Institutional Accreditation

Based on the BAN PT decree No. 1121/SK/BAN-PT/AK-Ppj/PT/XII/2023, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has successfully maintained its Institutional Accreditation with an EXCELLENT rating. UIN Sunan Kalijaga is the first PTKIN to be accredited as Excellent.

In March 2023, FIBAA finally announced its decision on the Field Assessment conducted at the end of 2022. FIBAA is a higher education quality assurance agency based in Bonn, Germany, and has been recognized by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Of the 18 study programs at UIN Sunan Kalijaga that were submitted for FIBAA international accreditation, 13 study programs received Quality Seal Awards and Cluster 3, consisting of 5 study programs from the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training which received Premium Seal Awards. Both of these titles were awarded unconditionally. UIN Sunan Kalijaga won the MURI record award as the university with the most programs accredited internationally by FIBAA.

UIN Sunan Kalijaga also ranked first as the Best PTKIN (Islamic State University) according to UniRank 2023 from the university ranking institution based in Sydney, Australia, namely 4 International College and Universities (4ICU). This demonstrates the campus' commitment to providing high-quality education that meets international standards. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the successful teamwork of the UIN Sunan Kalijaga academic community in realizing its vision of becoming a World Class University.

In the July 2025 edition of the Webometrics ranking, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta ranked first among all State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) in Indonesia, while also ranking 27th nationally and 2,073rd globally.

Adequate Facilities and Infrastructure

Adequate facilities and infrastructure are one of the important factors that can support the success of students' studies. This is what makes UIN Sunan Kalijaga continue to be committed to improving facilities and infrastructure in order to maintain the quality of its graduates.

  1. The buildings at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta are designed based on modern concepts and needs analysis in the form of representative lecture halls, an Integrated Lecture Building, a polyclinic, an administration center, a computer center, a Research Center, a Theatrical Class, a Student Center, a Multipurpose Building, a Sports Venue, a Campus Service Center, a Language and Culture Center, a University Club House, a University Press, a Play Group, a Guest House, Training Center, and Lecture Hall.
  2. The Sunan Kalijaga Mosque Religious Laboratory, which carries three distinctive values that are its main characteristics, namely (1) islamicity; (2) locality; (3) modernity, serves as a source of inspiration, motivation, and pedagogy for lecturers, students, and the community and visitors in general. Not only does it serve a ritual-worship function, the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Religious Laboratory is also a place to hone the mind, heart, senses, and arts in understanding religion.
  3. Cyber Campus: UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta received the Top National TeSCA Winner award in 2014 for its use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
  4. The UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library has registered its institution with MURI as the first library in Indonesia to use RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology for independent book borrowing and returning, and for its completeness, it has been awarded an “A” Accreditation as a form of government recognition through the National Library Agency. Additionally, in 2023, the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library won an award as a National Reference for Library Accreditation by the National Library of Indonesia.
  5. The UIN Sunan Kalijaga Integrated Laboratory provides academic, research, and community services. This laboratory also serves as a focal point for interaction with external research communities and prepares students to understand and develop science and technology. In addition to specialized knowledge, analytical skills, and the application of science and technology, students are also equipped with the skills needed to creatively address the problems and needs faced in society. The laboratory has been accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN).
