Lecturer of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Returns as International Visiting Scholar at Hassan I University, Morocco

Morocco, May 3, 2025 — Dr. Andi Holilulloh, S.Pd.I., M.A., MCE., a lecturer at the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, has once again achieved international academic recognition by serving as an International Visiting Scholar at Hassan I University in Settat, Morocco. This academic visit runs from April 29 to May 8, 2025, as part of an international inter-university scientific collaboration.

Before beginning his academic activities, Dr. Andi was warmly welcomed by the university leadership and faculty members, including the Rector, Prof. Dr. Pr. Abdellatif MOUKRIM, President of Hassan I University; Dr. Mohamed Bataoui, Head of the Master’s Program in Cross-Cultural Studies; and Senior Lecturer Dr. Fouad Larhzizer (the event organizer). The welcome ceremony reflected the high appreciation from Hassan I University for Dr. Andi Holilulloh’s presence as a representative of Indonesian academia in an international academic forum in Morocco.

During his academic visit, Dr. Andi Holilulloh engaged in several major activities, including delivering a presentation at an international seminar on the theme “Cultural and Religious Dynamic: Encounters between Middle East and West.” His presentation discussed the encounters of civilizations and values between the Middle East and the West within a global context, as illustrated through Indonesian cultural perspectives. He delivered the lecture in English to Moroccan students and participated in scholarly discussions with master's students and faculty members at Hassan I University. This experience was especially valuable as he served as a guest lecturer in a country where Arabic and French are the main languages.

On the second day, Dr. Andi also presented his academic thoughts on Arabic Language Studies in Indonesia about : “الذكاء الاصطناعي لتنمية المهارات اللغوية". His presentation received enthusiastic responses from Moroccan faculty and students, particularly due to the rich local approaches to Arabic language development in Indonesia. He explained that his method of teaching Arabic to his students in Indonesia goes beyond material and content, emphasizing the importance of enhancing students' personal intelligence.

This visit marks Dr. Andi’s second invitation to the university, following his initial guest lecture in December 2023. His repeated invitation reflects recognition of his scholarly contributions and cultural diplomacy. UIN Sunan Kalijaga appreciates this achievement as a concrete step toward the internationalization of the university and a contribution to strengthening Indonesia’s role in global discourse on education, culture, and religion.
