UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has formalized a strategic partnership with the National Narcotics Agency of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (BNNP DIY) to strengthen anti-drug efforts within the university and the broader community.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by UIN Rector Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan and BNNP DIY Head Brig. Gen. Andi Fairan, S.I.K., M.S.M., marking a joint commitment to prevent drug abuse and trafficking through education, research, and community engagement.
“This is one of our shared efforts. With this partnership, we hope UIN Sunan Kalijaga will remain free from the influence of addictive substances,” said Prof. Noorhaidi. “We are fully open to collaboration and guidance, especially in preventive and student support efforts.”
Brig. Gen. Andi Fairan emphasized the national urgency of this initiative. “We want to protect our students from the dangers of drugs. This is our shared commitment to ensure the campus remains a safe space for healthy, intelligent, and resilient future leaders,” he said.
The collaboration includes anti-drug literacy campaigns, joint research, life skills training, and campus outreach programs. Senior officials from both institutions, including Vice Rectors, faculty deans, and BNNP prevention and rehabilitation leaders, were present at the signing.
This initiative reflects a firm belief that universities must serve as moral strongholds and safe havens for young minds in an increasingly complex world. (humassk)
