In response to accelerating technological disruption and complex global
challenges, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta reaffirmed its commitment to delivering
impact-driven higher education during the Open Senate Graduation Ceremony for
Period II of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, held on Wednesday (11 February 2026).
The ceremony was formally opened by the Chair of the University Senate, Prof.
Dr. Kamsi.
A total of 570 graduates were conferred across
disciplines. The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training led with 213
graduates (97 bachelor’s, 113 master’s, 3 doctoral), followed by the Faculty of
Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought with 182 (123 bachelor’s, 59 master’s). The
Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences graduated 69 (58 bachelor’s, 11
master’s), the Faculty of Science and Technology 57 (49 bachelor’s, 8
master’s), and the Graduate School 49 (18 master’s, 31 doctoral).
In his address, Rector Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan
emphasized that graduation signifies the completion of rigorous academic
formation and the beginning of societal responsibility. He underscored the
university’s integration–interconnection paradigm, which bridges Islamic
studies, social sciences, humanities, science, and technology within a coherent
epistemic framework. This approach positions Islamic scholarship as an ethical
and philosophical foundation for interdisciplinary inquiry.
“You graduate with a ‘plus’ distinction,” the
Rector stated, “possessing not only disciplinary competence, but also
intellectual integrity, spirituality, and a commitment to contribute to
society, the nation, and global civilization.”
Reinforcing the university’s direction as a
“campus with impact,” he highlighted that academic excellence must translate
into measurable societal contribution. Research conducted by faculty members
and students is directed toward addressing contemporary challenges, while the
establishment of an innovation and research downstreaming center ensures that
scholarly outputs extend beyond publication into applicable solutions. This
ecosystem strengthens the linkage between teaching, research, and community
engagement.
For UIN Sunan Kalijaga, graduate outcomes are
defined not solely by employment status or professional rank, but by meaningful
contribution to social transformation. “Wherever they serve, as long as they
create impact for society, they are our successful alumni,” he affirmed.
Representing the graduates, Zeni Lutfiyah, a
Doctor of Islamic Studies, described graduation as a transition into broader
responsibility. She encouraged fellow graduates to embrace resilience and
initiative in navigating global realities.
The ceremony also recognized the fastest and
highest-achieving graduates under Rector’s Decree Number 16.1 of 2026 dated 11
February 2026 across bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.
Through this milestone, UIN Sunan Kalijaga
reinforces its institutional commitment to high-quality teaching,
interdisciplinary research, and graduate impact—advancing its role within
regional, national, and international higher education landscapes.
