UIN Sunan
Kalijaga Yogyakarta continues to demonstrate its commitment to international
quality standards in higher education through the active participation of its
students in global academic platforms. Most recently, Fadilla Nur Rahma, a
Biology student from the Faculty of Science and Technology, was appointed as
the official student representative in the ASIIN accreditation visit to UIN
Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang on 26–27 May 2025.
ASIIN,
the Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics,
Natural Sciences, and Mathematics based in Germany, involves student
representatives as part of its expert panels. Fadilla's selection is a
testament to the academic caliber and international readiness of UIN Sunan
Kalijaga’s students.
As part
of the expert panel, Fadilla contributed directly to the evaluation of Biology
and Chemistry programs at UIN Malang. She offered key insights from a student
perspective, especially regarding academic processes, support systems, and
institutional quality. Her role underscores the growing recognition of student
voices in shaping higher education quality assurance on an international scale.
According
to ASIIN’s standards, student panelists must meet several criteria: they must
be actively enrolled in a relevant academic program, demonstrate critical
thinking about their educational experiences, show steady academic progress,
and be familiar with both undergraduate and postgraduate systems. Fadilla
fulfilled all these requirements, reflecting the robust academic and personal
development fostered at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
Throughout
the visit, Fadilla collaborated with an esteemed team of international experts,
including Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nellen from Universität Kassel (Germany), Prof.
Dr. Carla Vogt from Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany), and
Sujatmoko, a representative from PT ROCHE Indonesia. The process was
coordinated by Dr. Emeline Jerez, Project Manager at ASIIN.
Reflecting
on her experience, Fadilla remarked, “Being selected as a student
representative for an international accreditation body like ASIIN was deeply
enriching. I gained valuable insight into how quality assurance works globally
and how students can actively contribute to shaping educational standards. The
exchange of perspectives between European and Indonesian contexts was
especially meaningful.”
This
participation not only highlights Fadilla’s achievement but also showcases UIN
Sunan Kalijaga’s institutional readiness and international engagement. As a
university committed to excellence and global relevance, UIN Sunan Kalijaga
encourages its students to be at the forefront of transformative educational
initiatives.
The
university hopes this milestone will inspire more students to engage in quality
assurance, policy discourse, and leadership roles that extend beyond national
boundaries. UIN Sunan Kalijaga reaffirms its role not only as a center of
Islamic higher learning but also as an active player in the global academic
community.
