UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Advocates Association (Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia/PERADI) Profesional, together with 111 other Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIs). The event was facilitated by the Directorate General of Islamic Education (Pendis) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, in collaboration with Universitas Indonesia (UI) and PERADI Profesional, at the Hotel Borobudur Jakarta on 8–9 July 2026.
Representing
the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rozaki, M.Si., in his
capacity as Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation, affirmed that this
cooperation with PERADI Profesional aims to strengthen the quality of legal
education, facilitate the Special Advocate Professional Education (Pendidikan Khusus Profesi Advokat/PKPA),
and build a justice ecosystem. It is also directed toward building a legal
education ecosystem that integrates the academic world, professional organizations,
and government through the concept of the triple helix.
UIN
Sunan Kalijaga has long been committed to continuously developing academic
quality assurance and the relevance of ongoing legal education in the country.
The university possesses strong foundations for this, demonstrated, among other
things, by the achievement of students from the Faculty of Sharia and Law of
UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in successfully winning a case before the
Constitutional Court that led to the removal of the presidential threshold
provision requiring 20% of parliamentary seats or 25% of the national vote for
presidential and vice-presidential candidacy nominations. The university's
alumni include an active Supreme Court Justice at the Supreme Court of the
Republic of Indonesia, Dr. H. Imron Rosyadi, S.H., M.H.
“Indonesia needs legal justice through the presence
of law enforcers who uphold the principles of morality, integrity, ethics, and
character. Indonesia as a rule-of-law state has a solid foundation,” said Prof. Dr. Abdur Rozaki, M.Si., who attended the
meeting in person.
In
addition to the MoU signing, the event continued with a National Symposium
under the theme “Membangun Ekosistem
Keadilan: Integrasi Penegakan Hukum, Profesi Advokat dan Perguruan Tinggi”
(Building a Justice Ecosystem: The Integration of Law Enforcement, the Advocate
Profession, and Higher Education). Speakers at the symposium included Prof. Dr.
Jimly Assidhiqie, S.H., M.H.; Dr. Wahidul Adam, S.H., M.H.; Prof. Dr. Harris
Arthur, S.H., M.H.; and Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah. (humassk)
