UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta continues to finalize preparations for the development of Campus 2 in Pajangan through the State Sharia Securities (SBSN) financing scheme. These preparations were discussed in a Coordination Meeting on Project Implementation Preparations for UIN Sunan Kalijaga's SBSN Project together with the Director of Sharia Financing, Directorate General of Budget Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR) of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, on Tuesday (9/1/2026), at the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of the Saifuddin Zuhri Building, UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

This meeting is an important step in ensuring technical, administrative, and governance readiness before the project moves into its implementation phase. UIN Sunan Kalijaga has secured SBSN funding allocation support for the development of Campus 2, which is planned as a multi-year project running from 2027 to 2028.

The Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Finance, particularly the Director of Sharia Financing at DJPPR, for the support and oversight provided throughout the process of allocating SBSN funding for the Campus 2 development.

According to the Rector, the development of Campus 2 is a strategic necessity given UIN Sunan Kalijaga's increasingly rapid growth. With a current student population of around 26,000, including international students and the first cohort of the Faculty of Medicine's medical study program, the university requires increasingly adequate facilities and infrastructure to support them.

He noted that the university's student growth has been very rapid, and that the development of Campus 2 is therefore not merely a matter of physical construction, but a necessity to ensure UIN Sunan Kalijaga's continued, sustainable development.

DJPPR's Director of Sharia Financing at the Ministry of Finance, Agus P. Laksono, explained that SBSN support for the Campus 2 development at UIN Sunan Kalijaga stems from aligning the project proposal with national priority programs, particularly the health sector within the Asta Cita framework.

This alignment further strengthens the relevance of the Campus 2 development to the national education and health development agenda, especially given the growth of the Faculty of Medicine's study program and related academic fields at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

Agus emphasized that the project readiness stages and budget allocation process have already passed through a number of important stages at the government level. Going forward, UIN Sunan Kalijaga needs to ensure that all administrative and technical preparations proceed according to regulations until the project is ready for implementation.

Because this is a multi-year project, planning and control from the earliest stages are a primary concern. This readiness includes preparing the Fund Disbursement Plan (RPD), project registration, multi-year contract permits, establishing the project implementation organization, and preparing for the tender process.

During the coordination meeting, the Ministry of Finance also provided guidance on budget management and project implementation to ensure the process runs effectively, accountably, and according to plan.

UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta was asked to promptly prepare its project implementation structure, including the Commitment-Making Officer (PPK) and technical team. Tender preparation can begin earlier, while contract signing and activity implementation will follow the provisions of the multi-year contract permit.

The Ministry of Finance stressed that construction must remain within the planned scope. Any substantial changes to the design or key specifications must follow the proper mechanisms and approvals in accordance with regulations.

At the same time, efficiencies gained from the tender process may be directed toward optimizing work that remains aligned with the project's original objectives, including strengthening laboratories and supporting facilities for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, in accordance with applicable provisions.

The Ministry of Finance's DJPPR will also provide regular mentoring through performance reviews, performance dialogues, briefings, and coordination channels. Implementing units were asked to be open in raising any obstacles from the outset so that solutions can be found together promptly.

At the close of the meeting, the Rector directed university leadership to promptly follow up on all development requirements, particularly preparations for the multi-year contract permit.

The Rectorate will also strengthen coordination with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, including its Secretariat General, General Affairs Bureau, Directorate General of Islamic Education, and Directorate of Islamic Higher Education, to accelerate preparation and tender processes.

In carrying out the project, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta will encourage the involvement of vendors or contractors with the qualifications and experience needed to handle large-scale construction.

The Rector affirmed that everything must proceed according to timeline, with weekly evaluations to ensure each stage can be monitored and completed on schedule, targeting full completion of preparations by the start of 2027 so that there is no delay in the construction process.

The development of Campus 2 in Pajangan is part of UIN Sunan Kalijaga's strategic steps to prepare educational infrastructure in line with the institution's growth. Through SBSN support and strengthened cross-ministerial coordination, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta continues to lay the groundwork for a campus that is increasingly adaptive, inclusive, and capable of meeting the needs of higher education in the future.
