Arabic Language Lecturer from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Appointed as International Visiting Lecturer at the University of Malaya

Kuala Lumpur — Dr. Andi Holilulloh, S.Pd.I., M.A., MCE., a lecturer in Arabic Language at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, has been honored with the appointment as an International Visiting Lecturer in the field of Arabic Language Studies at the University of Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The academic program was conducted over the course of one week and was attended by students from the Department of Arabic and Middle Eastern Languages, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, University of Malaya.

On his first day at the University of Malaya, Dr. Andi Holilulloh was formally welcomed by the Deputy Dean of Graduate Studies, Associate Professor Dr. Patricia Nora Riget. The meeting included discussions on the implementation and future development of international academic collaboration between the University of Malaya and UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The welcoming session was also attended by the Head of the Department of Arabic and Middle Eastern Languages, Dr. Ahmad Arifin Sapar, along with several UM lecturers, including Ustadz Abdul Halim and Dr. Mohamed.

Dr. Andi Holilulloh subsequently commenced his academic activities by introducing the program and conducting an initial assessment of the students’ Arabic language proficiency. His presence was enthusiastically welcomed by the students, who demonstrated a strong interest in enhancing their Arabic language competence both academically and practically. On the second day, the activities focused on intensive Arabic language skills development, particularly in speaking (al-kalām) and Arabic grammar (qawāʿid).

In the speaking sessions, students were trained to build confidence in using Modern Standard Arabic, while being consistently engaged in active language practice through systematic linguistic exercises. In the grammar component, students were guided to analyze Arabic sentence structures along with their complete iʿrāb (grammatical analysis). Fundamental yet practical sentence examples such as أنا طالب جامعة مالايا (I am a University of Malaya student) and نحن في الفصل (We are in the classroom) were employed to strengthen students’ understanding of Arabic syntax and applied grammar.

During the sessions, Dr. Andi Holilulloh also shared key insights and practical strategies for improving Arabic language proficiency. He emphasized that language mastery cannot be achieved through theory alone, but must be accompanied by continuous practice, in line with the principle that “language is practice.”

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Andi Holilulloh was also invited as an International Speaker at an academic forum held in commemoration of World Arabic Language Day on 18 December 2025, entitled:

The Scientific Forum for World Arabic Language Day
