UIN Sunan Kalijaga Holds Fun Run to Mark New Medical Programs

YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia, June 6, 2026 — UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held the Sunan Kalijaga Fun Run 2026 on Saturday, bringing together 600 runners in a 5K event in front of the university’s Faculty of Medicine building.

Carrying the theme “Run for Empowerment, Run for the Future,” the event was organized by the university’s Admissions Office as part of a broader effort to engage the public, promote student admissions and introduce the university’s newly established Medical Study Program and Medical Profession Program.

The two medical programs were inaugurated two days earlier by Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Prof. Nasaruddin Umar, marking a new stage in the university’s academic expansion.

Rector Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, who flagged off the race, said the event was an important platform to strengthen public awareness of UIN Sunan Kalijaga and its student admission pathways. The fun run, he said, reflected the university’s commitment to becoming a healthy, inclusive and forward-looking campus with a growing contribution to society.

Handini, M.I.Kom., head of the organizing committee and chair of the university’s Admissions Office, said the event was designed to bring UIN Sunan Kalijaga closer to the wider community while providing clearer information about its admission programs.

“This event is intended to introduce UIN Sunan Kalijaga and bring it closer to the community, while also providing more detailed information about the university’s student admission programs,” Handini said.

Prof. Kamsi, who joined the race as a participant, praised the successful organization of the event and said he hoped UIN Sunan Kalijaga would continue to earn a stronger place in the hearts of the public.

Participants described the event as joyful and relaxed, more a celebration of togetherness than a tense competition.

The Sunan Kalijaga Fun Run 2026 showed that university outreach can move beyond formal settings. Through sports and community engagement, UIN Sunan Kalijaga presented itself as an active, accessible and future-oriented university committed to education, public service and social impact.
