The Faculty of Da'wah and Communication (FDK) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held “Gelar Karya FDK 2026” as part of the series of events marking FDK's 56th anniversary (Dies Natalis), while also welcoming UIN Sunan Kalijaga's 75th anniversary. Carrying the theme “Beragam Karya, Menyatukan Cerita” (“Diverse Works, Uniting Stories”), the event ran from 21–25 September 2026 at the Hall of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

Gelar Karya FDK 2026 provided a space for students to showcase the range of creative work produced through their coursework as well as through activities developing their interests and talents. The series of events included a poster and photography exhibition of student work, creativity competitions among students from various study programs, seminars, waste management practice sessions, and art performances, culminating on the final day with a Sema'an Al-Qur'an session featuring recitation of all 30 Juz by tahfidz students.

Visitors could also enjoy performances by student bands, dance, poetry readings, and a variety of culinary offerings available at several stands. The full program ran daily from 08.00–16.00 WIB.

The Chair of the Gelar Karya FDK 2026 Organizing Committee, Sudharno Dwi Yuwono, M.Pd., expressed appreciation in his remarks to all parties who supported the event. He explained that the series of activities began on Monday, 21 September 2026, with the student poster and photography exhibition as one of the main agenda items.

“Preparation for this event was supported by the heads of study programs, the dean, vice deans, and education staff. I would also like to thank the students for their enthusiasm and dedication, who were even willing to work late to prepare the entire series of activities,” he said.

According to Dwi, Gelar Karya is an important moment for giving students space to develop their creativity. With space, trust, and mentorship, students are expected to become more confident in showcasing their potential and their best work.

“We remain optimistic that when students are given space to be creative, along with trust and mentorship, they are able to produce a variety of work that reveals potential that may not have been fully visible before,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Dr. Arif Maftuhin, M.Ag., M.A.I.S., stated that Gelar Karya is a concrete form of space for developing student potential.

“Today we are witnessing together the growth and change in our students,” he said.

He noted that giving students room for creativity opens opportunities for a wide range of potential to grow and develop. Through Gelar Karya, students demonstrate not only the results of their creativity, but also the learning process, the courage to express themselves, and the ability to work together in producing a piece of work.

“When we give students space to be creative, that is where we can see potential that was previously unseen become visible and develop optimally. So let us all enjoy Gelar Karya FDK together,” he stated.

Prof. Arif also expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed to organizing the event, particularly the committee, students, lecturers, and education staff.

“I am grateful to the committee chair, students, lecturers, and education staff who supported this activity, enabling us to give our best for FDK,” he concluded.

Gelar Karya FDK 2026 is expected to serve not only as a showcase for student creativity, but also as a space for collaboration and learning that strengthens the academic climate and creative culture within the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Through the theme “Beragam Karya, Menyatukan Cerita” the event forms part of the faculty's efforts to give students space to create, express themselves, and contribute to campus life. (humassk)
