Commemorating Pancasila Sanctity Day, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Reaffirms the Spirit of Unity and Nationhood

The spirit of preserving unity and practicing the values of Pancasila was at the heart of the Pancasila Sanctity Day commemoration at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This spirit was expressed through the 2026 Pancasila Sanctity Day Ceremony, attended by the entire academic community on Thursday (October 1, 2026) in the courtyard of the Saifuddin Zuhri Building (PAU) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

The ceremony was attended by university leaders, faculty members, administrative staff, and students. Prof. Abdur Rozaki, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation, served as the ceremony inspector.

The in-person ceremony was part of a simultaneous commemoration of Pancasila Sanctity Day held across all work units of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. It followed Letter No. 8630/SJ/B.VI/HM.00/09/2026 from the Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, dated September 29, 2026.

The 2026 commemoration carried the theme “Pancasila, the Unifier of the Nation Toward a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.” The theme serves as a reminder of the importance of Pancasila as the foundation of national life and as a force that unites the Indonesian people in facing a range of challenges.

During the ceremony, a pledge was also read reaffirming the commitment to uphold and practice Pancasila as the state ideology. The pledge recalled that since the Proclamation of Independence on August 17, 1945, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia has faced various threats, both from within and outside the country.

As the pledge emphasized, such threats to national and state life can arise when the nation grows complacent and fails to remain vigilant against efforts that endanger Pancasila as the state ideology. For this reason, all ceremony participants renewed their commitment to uphold and practice the values of Pancasila as a source of strength in building solidarity and preserving the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

For higher education institutions, this spirit is an integral part of nurturing an academic generation with a strong sense of national awareness. The values of Pancasila also serve as an important foundation for building a campus life that upholds solidarity, diversity, responsibility, and contribution to society.

The commemoration of Pancasila Sanctity Day at UIN Sunan Kalijaga also serves as a moment to strengthen the academic community's commitment to bringing national values to life through education, research, community service, and everyday academic life. (humassk)
