Preparing young people for the future is not only about finishing their education and building a career, but also about designing a life in line with religious values and goals. This perspective was at the heart of the Young Hajj Outreach and Dai Sejuta Mimbar Program, held at the Interactive Center of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISHUM) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Under
the theme "Sejuta Mimbar Program: Young People as the Successors of
Platform-Based Digital Da'wah," the event drew some 200 students from the
Communication Studies Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. It was a collaboration
among the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), the National Research and
Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Harika Foundation for Humanity, and the
Communication Studies Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
For
students, the event brought together two needs that matter to the digital
generation: the ability to plan for the future financially, and the ability to
use technology to create work that benefits society.
In
her remarks, FISHUM Dean Prof. Dr. Erika Setyanti Kusumaputri, S.Psi., M.Si.,
encouraged students to start building the habit of saving and financial
planning at a young age. In her view, planning early can help students prepare
more thoroughly for their aspiration to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.
That
message was deepened through an education session on the Young Hajj Program,
delivered by BPKH Deputy for Fundraising Dr. Juni Supriyanto, S.Kom., M.Si.,
Ak., M.Ak., CMA, SAS, CertDA. He emphasized that Hajj planning is a long-term
process that requires awareness, literacy, and financial planning.
“Hajj
planning needs to be viewed as a long-term process that requires awareness,
literacy, and financial planning. That is why young people need to receive
adequate information early on, so they can take steps that match their own
abilities and circumstances,” he said.
The
event did not stop at Hajj literacy but also connected the topic to the skills
of Communication Studies students. A talk show and discussion featured Dr. Banu
Muhammad, S.E., M.S.E., a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business at
Universitas Indonesia; Syuhelmaidi Syukur, Ak., CA., Director of the Harika
Foundation; Rizky Prayogo Ramadhan, S.E., M.Si., a BRIN researcher; and Tito
Ikhsan Rozak of Sosplan Creative.
The
speakers discussed a range of perspectives on young people, Hajj planning,
financial literacy, creativity, and the use of digital platforms to build
da'wah that resonates with the younger generation. Students also gained tips on
creating engaging content relevant to the field they study in the Communication
Studies Program.
The
digital space in this event was seen not merely as a channel for spreading
information, but as a space for young people to take an active role in
conveying Islamic messages. Through the Dai Sejuta Mimbar Program, students are
encouraged to take part in producing and distributing religious content that is
educational, inspiring, relevant, and responsible.
The
involvement of Communication Studies students in the program also shows how
academic competencies can be applied to society's problems and needs. The
ability to understand audiences, shape messages, and make use of digital
platforms is part of students' contribution to spreading positive messages in
the public sphere.
For
UIN Sunan Kalijaga, the meeting of Islamic literacy, financial planning, communication
studies, and digital technology is part of its effort to provide an education
that is relevant to the times. The campus is not only a place of learning, but
also a space for students to develop their capacities and connect their
scholarship with the needs of society.
Through
this event, young people were invited to take on roles suited to their
abilities: preparing for Hajj early, improving Hajj and financial literacy,
making use of digital technology, and spreading messages of goodness through their
work. This spirit positions students not merely as users of technology, but as
a generation that learns, creates, and contributes within society. (humassk)
