Students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program (PBA), Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, who are members of An Nasyath, have once again achieved something to be proud of. At the Desert Festival (Festival Padang Pasir) hosted by UIN Walisongo Semarang on October 19-20, 2026, An Nasyath's delegation won four awards across several Arabic language competitions.
An Nasyath Chair for 2025-2026, Muhammad Rodli Al Askari, once again succeeded in bringing out the full potential of An Nasyath's delegates, leading to four awards at this event. The four awards are: first place in Qiroatul Akhbar (news reading) by Adzkiya Salsabila Akbar; second place in Taqdimul Qissoh (storytelling) by Atiqotuz Zahrotin Najmi; third place in Ghina Aroby (Arabic singing) by Asa Benazir Aurellia; and third place in Khitobah (speech) by Maftuhatur Rizkiyah Arifin. These results show the enthusiasm and commitment of PBA UIN Sunan Kalijaga students in developing their Arabic language skills, as well as their competitiveness in interest and talent fields.
In his view, this success is inseparable from the hard work of each participant, the guidance of An Nasyath's mentors, and the direction of An Nasyath Chair Muhammad Rodli Al Askari. Support and guidance from the faculty advisors of the Arabic Language Education Study Program were also an important part of preparing and coaching the delegates for the competition.
As a platform for developing PBA students' interests, talents, and achievements, he continued, An Nasyath keeps working to build a culture of consistent practice, ongoing mentoring, and a healthy competitive spirit. The four awards won at this festival are the result of collaboration among many parties and a motivation to keep improving the quality of student development.
The participants felt the joy of the results firsthand. Maftuhatur Rizkiyah Arifin, who goes by Kiky, expressed her happiness after receiving her award on stage.
“I'm so happy to have competed together with my friends from An Nasyath PBA UIN SUKA. Thank you, Kak Aska, for supporting us,” she said.
The experience of competing and the achievements gained are part of the students' learning journey. Besides bringing home awards, they gained the chance to sharpen their skills, work together, and learn to face challenges outside the classroom.
The four awards at the Desert Festival add to the record of achievements by UIN Sunan Kalijaga PBA students in the field of Arabic. More than just competition results, these achievements show how spaces for coaching and competition can be part of students' process of developing their knowledge, skills, and confidence. (humassk)
