Dr. Abdellah Mansoer Mohamed Hassan, a native Arabic lecturer from Egypt, has successfully completed his three-year tenure (February 2022–January 2025) at the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga, leaving a transformative impact on the institution’s Arabic language programs. His work at the Faculty of Letters and Cultural Sciences and the Faculty of Educational Sciences has been widely praised for elevating students’ linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding.
Dr. Mansoer’s innovative teaching methods—combining rigorous theoretical instruction with immersive practical exercises—significantly enhanced students’ mastery of Nahwu (Arabic grammar) and Al-Kalam (speaking skills). His emphasis on authentic pronunciation and cultural context provided learners with a holistic grasp of the language, bridging the gap between academic study and real-world application. “His approach made us confident in using Arabic not just in classrooms, but also in debates and cultural exchanges,” remarked a student from the Arabic Language and Literature program.
Under his guidance, participation in Arabic-language activities, including public speaking competitions and cultural simulations, surged. Dr. Mansoer also integrated Islamic-Arabic cultural studies into the curriculum, enriching students’ appreciation of the language’s socio-historical dimensions.
University officials highlighted the broader implications of his contributions. “Dr. Mansoer’s tenure underscores the value of international academic collaboration,” said the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Cultural Sciences. “We aim to expand such partnerships by inviting guest lecturers from other Arab nations, such as Morocco and the UAE, to sustain this momentum.”
The success of the program has positioned UIN Sunan Kalijaga as a hub for Arabic language excellence in Southeast Asia. Moving forward, the university plans to strengthen its global academic networks, ensuring students remain competitive in an increasingly interconnected world.
