UIN Sunan Kalijaga Gears Up for ASIIN Accreditation Evaluation to Boost International Academic Excellence

UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is making final preparations for the On-Site Visit (OSV) by ASIIN, a prestigious international accreditation body from Germany. Scheduled for February 19-20, 2025, for Cluster B (Mathematics and Physics) and February 26-27, 2025, for Cluster A (Biology and Chemistry), the evaluation underscores the university’s commitment to continuous academic improvement within the Faculty of Science and Technology.

A team of esteemed assessors from top institutions—including Universität Paderborn, Universität Würzburg, STIS, ITS, and Universitas Jember—will conduct the assessment. Notable assessors for Cluster B include Dr. Natalia Vega (Project Manager ASIIN), Prof. Dr. Arno Schindlmayr (Universität Paderborn), Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Weigand (Universität Würzburg), Prof. Setia Permana (STIS), and Dr. M. Meanwhile, Cluster A will be evaluated by Dr. Emeline Jerez (Project Manager ASIIN), PD Dr. Alois Palmetshofer (University of Würzburg), Dr. Dietrich Scherzer (former BASF SE), Prof. Dr. Erlia Narulita (Universitas Jember), and D'April Sabriantie Mulus (Universitas Padjadjaran).

UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s Rector, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, reaffirmed the university’s dedication to achieving international academic excellence. “ASIIN accreditation is a key milestone in strengthening our global competitiveness. It is not just a validation of our academic standards but also a commitment to equipping our students and graduates with the credentials to thrive internationally,” he stated.

Prof. Dr. Eva Latipah, Chair of the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM), emphasized that the OSV aligns with the university’s 2025 accreditation roadmap. This includes four ASIIN visits, the submission of 13 study programs for ACQUIN accreditation, and several national and international reaccreditation efforts. Preparations have focused on compiling extensive accreditation documentation aligned with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles and conducting in-depth evaluations of academic and governance systems.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Istiningsih, underscored the university-wide efforts in preparing for the accreditation. “This process goes beyond securing accreditation; it reflects our long-term commitment to cultivating a culture of academic excellence and sustainability,” she explained.

To support the OSV, UIN Sunan Kalijaga has enhanced its academic infrastructure, including upgrading laboratory facilities, refining academic governance systems, and strengthening learning resources. With meticulous preparation and strong collaboration among all stakeholders, the university remains confident in securing a successful ASIIN accreditation.

Beyond enhancing UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s global reputation, this accreditation is expected to provide concrete benefits for students and graduates, bolstering their competitiveness in the international job market. The OSV marks a defining moment for reinforcing academic standards, advancing cutting-edge research, and elevating the university’s standing in global education.
