Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has recorded outstanding achievements in the 2025 National Entrance Exam for State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (UM PTKIN). According to the national committee under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, UIN Sunan Kalijaga ranks Third among UINs nationwide in both total number of applicants and number of first-choice selections.
The university’s Islamic Education (PAI) program also made it into the Top 10 most popular study programs, and UIN Sunan Kalijaga placed in the Top 6 for highest applicant growth nationwide.
“This result affirms the growing public trust in UIN Sunan Kalijaga,” said Handini, M.I.Kom., Head of Admissions. “Despite having fewer programs compared to others above us, our consistent position is a strong achievement.”
She added that UIN Sunan Kalijaga will continue enhancing services and outreach to attract more prospective students in coming years.
During the National Graduation Meeting in Jakarta, Minister of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. H. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., emphasized the importance of character in higher education admissions.
“UM PTKIN is not just about academic performance; it must also foster honesty, integrity, and responsibility,” he stated.
He also reminded stakeholders to uphold transparency and continuous quality improvement. The Minister praised the 2025 implementation as positive and adaptive.
According to the national data, 120,084 applicants registered, with 83,235 completing the online exam via the Electronic Selection System (SSE). Results will be announced on um.ptkin.ac.id.
UIN Sunan Kalijaga, a pioneer in integrating Islamic and scientific disciplines, views this achievement as a call to keep innovating and strengthening its academic mission—producing graduates who are moderate, inclusive, and ready to lead in an ever-changing world. (humassk)
