The Psych Lab Behind Indonesia’s Brightest Minds: UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s Role in BIB 2025

Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, through its Applied Psychology Center (APC), has been entrusted by the Center for Religious Education and Scholarship Financing (Pusat Pembiayaan Pendidikan Agama dan Keagamaan/PUSPENMA) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kementerian Agama RI) to organize the Scholastic and Psychological Test for the 2025 Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit (BIB – Indonesia Rising Scholarship) program.

Held at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Humaniora), the test involved 4,172 applicants, including candidates from the Beasiswa Santri Berprestasi (Outstanding Santri Scholarship) and Perkuliahan Jarak Jauh (PJJ – Long-Distance Learning). A total of 144 supervisors, mostly lecturers and staff, ensured smooth execution.

According to Prof. Dr. Erika Setyanti Kusumaputri, Dean and Chair of the Committee, the test was preceded by a technical simulation to anticipate potential disruptions.

“The key word is mitigation. We worked to ensure every issue could be anticipated and resolved. Our IT and APC teams followed up carefully to guarantee a seamless test,” she explained.

Prof. Erika also highlighted the APC’s track record and credibility.

“Our psychologists, counselors, and assessment experts are highly qualified in psychometric evaluations. APC has been trusted by institutions like the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), the General Elections Commission (KPU), and even hospitals.”

She emphasized that the selection must uphold fairness and integrity:

“This test is part of a national effort to identify credible future leaders. Supervisors are at the frontline of this mission and must safeguard its objectivity.”

Lisnawati, S.Psi., M.Psi., Head of APC, echoed the sense of responsibility.

“We are honored to be trusted for this important task. It demands the highest level of professionalism, and we are committed to delivering it.”

The APC-led team ensured the 2025 BIB test was completed in full compliance with national standards, minimizing technical issues and maximizing fairness. The results are expected to support the Ministry’s goal of producing qualified, morally grounded scholarship recipients capable of contributing to Indonesia’s development. (humassk)
