CENDI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Holds PIKMA 2025 as a Laboratory of Student Creativity and Entrepreneurship

Yogyakarta, Wednesday, November 5, 2025 — The atmosphere in front of the Polyclinic at UIN Sunan Kalijaga felt different that Wednesday morning. Neatly lined tents displayed a variety of student works — from culinary products and creative merchandise to digital innovations and service ideas. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mixed with the buzz of visitors moving from one booth to another. At first glance, it looked like a millennial SME festival, but in fact, it was Pekan Inovasi dan Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PIKMA) 2025 — the annual Student Innovation and Creativity Week organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (CENDI) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

PIKMA 2025 served as a meeting ground for ideas, opportunities, and the courage to start something new. Through a series of events — an Entrepreneur Day featuring an entrepreneurship expo, a Business Talkshow themed “How to Start a Business / Startup for Students”, and a Business Plan Competition — CENDI cultivated the entrepreneurial spirit within the university, turning campus life into an alternative classroom that demands action, not just theory.

The event was officially opened by Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Abdur Rozaki, M.Si. In his remarks, he emphasized that UIN Sunan Kalijaga is not only a place to gain knowledge but also a space to build independent and innovative entrepreneurial character.

“A university must be a generator of ideas and solutions. This is where new entrepreneurs are born,” said Dr. Rozaki.

Meanwhile, CENDI Director, Noor Saif Muhammad Musafi, Ph.D., stated that PIKMA represents the university’s real commitment to nurturing young entrepreneurs ready to compete in the global arena.

“We don’t just teach entrepreneurship theory — we provide a stage for practice, for trying, for failing, and then rising again,” he emphasized.

At one of the entrepreneurship expo booths, a female student was busy preparing iced coffee. Her name is Eka, a student of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. With a warm smile, she greeted visitors who came to try her product.

For Eka, joining PIKMA was a big leap.

“This event is very useful. It’s the starting point for our business and marketing journey, especially to introduce our products to other students,” she said.

On Thursday (November 6, 2025), the Kalijaga Business Plan Competition took place in an atmosphere of excitement and creativity. Ten finalists took turns presenting their business ideas before a panel of judges. Participants appeared relaxed and confident, enjoying the process of explaining their innovations. For them, the competition was more than just about winning — it was a space to express ideas, learn strategy, understand markets, and communicate professionally.

PIKMA 2025 was more than an event — it was a living laboratory for UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s aspiring entrepreneurs. It was where courage was tested, failure was celebrated, and creativity was fought for.
