JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar called on the nation to draw inspiration from the Qur’an to strengthen unity and promote peaceful coexistence during the national commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an at the State Palace on Tuesday (March 10, 2026).
The event, themed “Making the Qur’an a Mercy for the Universe,” was attended by President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, senior cabinet officials, and national religious leaders.
Nasaruddin said the Qur’an was revealed as guidance and mercy for humanity and should serve not only as a sacred text but also as a foundation for ethical conduct in public life.
“With that spirit, the commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an should inspire us to nurture national unity and build a peaceful, just society that benefits all,” he said.
The minister also emphasized the importance of praying for national leaders, noting that the well-being of a leader ultimately shapes the welfare of the broader society.
“When we pray for our leaders, the goodness they embody will bring goodness to the people and the nation,” he said.
The event also included a social initiative in which the Ministry of Religious Affairs provided assistance packages to 30 orphaned children, highlighting the Qur’anic values of compassion and social responsibility.
