Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar is inviting the public, particularly residents of the Greater Jakarta area, to attend the Zikir and National Prayer (Zikir dan Doa Kebangsaan) event to be held at Monas Square, Jakarta, on Saturday, August 1, 2026. One of the event's main highlights will be a National Selawat performance with Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf.

“Let us welcome Indonesia's Independence Month by attending the Zikir and National Prayer together with Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf and interfaith leaders at Monas Square, Jakarta, on Saturday, August 1, 2026,” the Minister said on Wednesday (7/29/2026).

The event is open to the public and will run from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m. local time as part of the effort to welcome Indonesia's Independence Month. “Come and bring your family, friends, and loved ones,” the Minister added.

The public will be able to begin entering the event grounds starting at 3:00 p.m. through security checkpoints set up on the north and south sides of Monas. Attendees who are unable to enter the main area will still be able to follow the full program via LED screens set up outside.

Ministry of Religious Affairs Secretary General Kamaruddin Amin said the Zikir and National Prayer program will include guided recitation, a complete Qur'an reading (khataman), a congregational Maghrib prayer, a hadrah performance, the National Selawat with Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf, a Qur'anic recitation by Muhammad Zian Fahrezi, and an interfaith prayer for a sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia.

“Hundreds of restrooms will also be available, along with ablution areas featuring roughly 1,000 to 1,500 faucets for the comfort of all attendees,” Kamaruddin said.

The public is encouraged to wear white clothing, bring compact prayer equipment, and avoid carrying excessive belongings. Attendees are also advised not to bring infants or toddlers, and are prohibited from bringing sharp objects, firearms, fireworks, or other hazardous items into the event area.

The interfaith prayer will be led by religious leaders representing Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism.

“Prayer is a spiritual force that accompanies every effort undertaken by the nation. Through this shared interfaith zikir and prayer, we ask for the help of Almighty God so that Indonesia may always be guided toward realizing its aspiration to be a sovereign, just, and prosperous nation,” Kamaruddin said.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs hopes the Zikir and National Prayer will become a moment of unity for all elements of the nation as they welcome Indonesia's Independence Month. The event is also expected to strengthen interfaith brotherhood and the spirit of mutual cooperation in building a sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia.
