UIN Sunan Kalijaga Soars in Edurank 2025, Surpassing Several Universities in Asia

UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has once again achieved remarkable success in the Edurank 2025 rankings, released on March 2, 2025. The university has seen a significant rise in rankings across various academic fields, reaffirming its reputation as one of Indonesia’s leading higher education institutions.

In the latest rankings, UIN Sunan Kalijaga secured the 28th position nationally while maintaining its status as the top State Islamic Higher Education Institution (PTKIN) in Indonesia. One of the most outstanding achievements is in Theology/Divinity/Religious Studies, where the university jumped from 22nd place in 2024 to 6th place in Asia in 2025, surpassing several prestigious universities in the region. UIN Sunan Kalijaga is now ranked just below the University of Hong Kong and outperforms Bar-Ilan University, Peking University, University of Tokyo, and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. This achievement places UIN Sunan Kalijaga among the top six best universities in Asia in this field, alongside globally recognized institutions such as Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, National University of Singapore, and University of Haifa. Beyond Islamic studies, UIN Sunan Kalijaga also excelled in Computer Science, becoming the top-ranked PTKIN in Indonesia, surpassing UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The university also maintained its leading position in Economics, Psychology, and Liberal Arts & Social Sciences among PTKIN institutions in the country.

Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, welcomed this achievement with gratitude and pride:
