Yogyakarta, Thursday (September 11, 2025) — The Center for Innovation, Intellectual Property, and Research Dissemination at LPPM UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta hosted a Scientific Publication Workshop at the Rectorate Building, featuring Prof. Dr.Eng. Edi Suharyadi from Universitas Gadjah Mada as keynote speaker, moderated by Deddy Rahmadi, M.Sc.
Prof. Edi highlighted that effective
scientific writing is grounded in learning by doing and producing research with
strong data. He underscored the need to identify research gaps to ensure
novelty, calling it the “central issue” of any study. He also stressed
integrity in publication, including avoiding plagiarism and double submission,
while advising careful selection of journals based on scope, impact factor,
quartile, and publication fees. Sharing his personal experience, he noted, “My
article was rejected 18 times before it was finally published. Rejection is
part of the academic journey.”
The workshop also addressed the
distinction between authorship and acknowledgement, emphasizing that only
listed authors carry full responsibility for published work. According to Dr.
Rika Lusri Virga, S.IP., M.A., Secretary of LPPM, the program is part of UIN
Sunan Kalijaga’s broader effort to increase international publications. “This
initiative is essential to prepare our faculty for reputable global journals,”
she explained.
Dr. Rika further linked the program
to the vision of Rector Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan: Empowering Knowledge, Shaping
the Future. She noted that international publications are a vital measure of
institutional reputation, reinforcing UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s standing in the
global academic community. (humassk)
