JAKARTA — Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University in
Yogyakarta has won a national award for public information transparency,
marking a notable milestone for the institution in its first year participating
in Indonesia’s official transparency assessment.
The university received the Informatif designation at the 2025 Public Information
Disclosure Awards, held on Monday, Dec. 15, at the Birawa Assembly Hall of the
Bidakara Hotel in Jakarta. The awards are organized annually by Indonesia’s
Central Information Commission to recognize public institutions that meet high
standards of openness and public accountability.
Represented by its rector, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, and the head of its Internal Audit Unit, Dr. Shaleh, the university ranked 16th nationwide among Indonesian higher education institutions, earning a score of 96.85. In total, 54 universities received the Informatif status this year.
Prof. Hasan described the recognition as both
an achievement and a motivation. “This is our first time undergoing the public
information transparency assessment, and achieving this result is deeply
encouraging,” he said. He emphasized that the award reflects the university’s
commitment to Law No. 14 of 2008 on Public Information Disclosure and to
strengthening transparent and accountable governance.
Dr. Shaleh said the recognition was the result
of coordinated efforts across campus units to ensure public information is
managed systematically, accurately and made easily accessible. He called the
award an affirmation of sustained institutional commitment rather than a
one-time accomplishment.
University
officials said the achievement reinforces Sunan Kalijaga’s position as a public
higher education institution that prioritizes transparency and integrity, while
expressing optimism that the standard can be further improved in the years
ahead.
