YOGYAKARTA — UIN Sunan Kalijaga called
for stronger collaboration to improve access to quality education during a
National Education Day ceremony held on Saturday (May 2).
Rector Noorhaidi
Hasan said education must move beyond formal policy into meaningful
implementation, emphasizing that progress depends on collective commitment
across institutions.
“Education is fundamentally a process of human
development, grounded in care and aimed at unlocking human potential,” he said,
echoing remarks from Indonesia’s education minister.
The ceremony brought together the university’s
academic community, with participants wearing traditional attire reflecting
Indonesia’s cultural diversity.
The rector highlighted five key policy
priorities, including education infrastructure development, digitalization,
teacher capacity building, character education, and expanding inclusive access.
He also underscored the adoption of “deep
learning” as a strategic approach to improve education quality, focusing not
only on cognitive outcomes but also on contextual understanding.
The event reinforced the role of universities
in shaping human capital and promoting equitable education, amid broader
national efforts to strengthen competitiveness and social inclusion.
The ceremony also served as a moment of
reflection on education’s role in nation-building, positioning universities as
key actors in delivering long-term social impact.
