Behind the progress of a university, it is not only academics, researchers, or institutional leaders who stand at the forefront. There are countless hands working in quiet dedication, ensuring every service runs smoothly, every program is carried out, and every idea can be transformed into institutional advancement. For this reason, strengthening the quality of the civil apparatus is a vital part of a university's journey toward becoming a globally reputed institution of excellence.
This
vision came to the fore during the Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony for
First-Level Functional Officials (Jabatan Fungsional Ahli Pertama)
within the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta environment, held at the General
Administrative Centre (PAU) Building, 1st Floor, on Monday (22/6/2026).
The
inauguration and oath-taking ceremony was led directly by the Head of the
General Administration and Finance Bureau (AUK) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr. Ali
Sodiq, S.Ag., M.A. A total of 23 newly appointed functional officials who have
been elevated to Civil Servant (PNS) status, along with one employee
transitioning from an executive position to a functional role, took part in the
proceedings as a mark of the new mandates they now carry.
Serving
as witnesses to the inauguration were the Head of the General Section of the
AUK Bureau, Radiman, M.T., and the Head of the Academic Section of the Bureau
of Academic Administration, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Khoirul Anwar,
M.A. Meanwhile, Pamuji, M.IP. served as the officiant.
The
newly inaugurated officials come from a range of strategic functional
positions, including First-Level Computer Operator (Pranata Komputer Ahli
Pertama), Legal Analyst, State Budget Financial Administrator (Penata
Kelola Keuangan APBN), Librarian, Auditor, State Budget Financial Management
Analyst, Human Resource Apparatus Analyst, and First-Level Public Relations
Officer (Pranata Humas Ahli Pertama).
In
his address, the Head of the AUK Bureau encouraged the newly inaugurated
functional officials to view their positions both as a space for public service
and as an opportunity for personal and professional development. He underscored
that the strengthening of competence and professionalism must form an integral
part of every civil servant's career journey.
The
same message was echoed by UIN Sunan Kalijaga Rector, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan,
who in his speech affirmed that the university's progress requires the active
involvement of all its human resources. He noted that the various strategic
programs currently being undertaken by UIN Sunan Kalijaga demand the synergy of
all staff in accordance with their respective roles and responsibilities,
underpinned by excellent service across every work unit.
For
the Rector, human resource development represents a crucial investment in the
future of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, particularly as the university prepares major
agendas in the fields of health, social and governmental sciences, natural
sciences, and engineering, all of which require a strong working ecosystem
across every level of the institution.
“UIN Sunan Kalijaga is currently moving toward an
ever-expanding range of development agendas. Therefore, every employee holds a
strategic role in supporting this transformation through professional,
innovative, and initiative-driven performance. There is much room to grow, and
I believe every civil servant has the capacity to make their best contribution
to the advancement of this institution,”
he affirmed.
This
message carries particular relevance given that the majority of the newly
inaugurated officials belong to a generation that grew up in the digital era.
The Rector noted that digital natives possess significant assets: creativity,
adaptability, and the courage to explore new possibilities, all of which can be
harnessed to drive the university's progress.
At
the ceremony, attended by faculty leaders, unit heads, and team coordinators,
the Rector also highlighted integrity as the foremost foundation for carrying
out the mandate of a civil servant. He reminded those present that every
position is a form of trust that must be upheld with honesty and
accountability.
“A clean spirit and honesty must be cultivated from
this moment forward. When a greater mandate is entrusted to you in the future,
it is this foundation of integrity that will guard you against ethical
violations and all other forms of misconduct,”
he said.
The
inauguration of these 24 functional officials ultimately marks not only the
beginning of a new chapter in the careers of those sworn in. More than that,
this occasion serves as a reminder that the progress of a university is built
upon the contributions of many who work according to their respective roles —
delivering the best service, fostering innovation, and upholding integrity —
all in pursuit of a UIN Sunan Kalijaga that is increasingly excellent,
impactful, and recognized at both the national and global level. (humassk)
