The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) of the Republic of Indonesia continues its commitment to strengthening the quality of government public communication through the Directorate General of Public Communication and Media. One of its strategic steps was realized through the Technical Guidance on the Preparation of Public Communication Strategies, held on Tuesday (7/7/2026) in a hybrid format at the Technical Education Training Centre (BLPT), Jalan Kyai Mojo No. 70, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
Initiated
by the Government Strategic Communication Planning Team of the Directorate of
Public Communication, the activity aims to enhance the capacity of Civil
Servants in the field of Public Information and Communication. Through this
event, participants were equipped with knowledge and skills in preparing public
communication strategies that are effective, measurable, adaptive, and capable
of responding to the communication challenges of the digital era.
Participant
enthusiasm was notably high, 100 participants attended in person, while 976
others joined online from various ministries, institutions, regional
governments, universities, and government agencies across Indonesia.
UIN
Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta participated by sending three Public Relations
personnel: RTM Maharani, as Intermediate Functional Public Relations Officer,
attended in person, while Ira Nurhasanah, as First-Level Functional Public
Relations Officer and Noviastuti Putri Indrasari, as Public Relations staff,
joined online.
The
participation of UIN Sunan Kalijaga's Public Relations personnel forms part of
ongoing efforts to improve human resource competency in the field of public
relations, particularly in understanding how to prepare professional, directed,
and data-driven public communication strategies capable of effectively
conveying information to the public.
The
event was attended in person by the Head of the Government Strategic
Communication Planning Team of the Directorate of Public Communication,
Directorate General of Public Communication and Media, Ministry of
Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Untung, who
presented the implementation report while explaining the urgency of public
communication strategy preparation within government bodies.
In
his report, Untung affirmed that public communication strategy is no longer
merely an activity of information dissemination; it has become an important
instrument for building public trust in government policy. Communication
designed systematically, he argued, is capable of delivering information that
is accurate, easy for the public to understand, and conducive to encouraging
public participation in various development programs.
Meanwhile,
the Head of the Communication and Informatics Office of the Special Region of
Yogyakarta, Hari Edi Tri Wahyu Nugroho, in his welcoming remarks expressed
appreciation to all participants.
“Welcome to Yogyakarta. May this activity become a
shared learning space for strengthening the quality of government public
communication that is increasingly adaptive, collaborative, and capable of
meeting the needs of society,” he said.
He
also emphasized that a good public communication strategy is an important
foundation for conveying government policy comprehensively, so that the public
receives accurate information, is less susceptible to disinformation, and
places increasing trust in public services.
The
event was formally opened by the Director of Public Communication of the
Directorate General of Public Communication and Media, Ministry of
Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Nunik Purwanti.
In her address, Nunik explained that the preparation of public communication
strategies is one of the core competencies that every government public
relations practitioner must possess.
A
well-formulated communication strategy, she argued, is capable of improving the
effectiveness of policy delivery, strengthening institutional image, building
cross-sectoral collaboration, and deepening the relationship between government
and the public.
“This technical guidance is hoped to provide benefits
not only for improving the individual capacity of civil servants, but also for
strengthening the institutions of ministries, agencies, regional governments,
and universities in building public communication that is professional,
credible, and oriented toward public service,”
she explained.
Through
participation in this event, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta's Public Relations
unit is hoped to be increasingly prepared to develop public communication
strategies that are more effective, innovative, and data driven. This
competency enhancement forms part of UIN Sunan Kalijaga's commitment to
delivering public information services that are professional, transparent, and
capable of meeting the needs of society in the digital era. (humassk)
