Selection Quality as the Foundation of Educational Excellence: 299 Candidates Take Second-Batch Medicine CBT at UIN Sunan Kalijaga

The quality of a university's graduates is not shaped overnight once students step into the classroom. That process begins as early as the new student admission stage. The more credible the selection process, the greater a university's chances of admitting prospective students with the competence, integrity, and readiness to grow. With this in mind, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held the second batch of its Computer Based Test (CBT) for new student admissions to the Medicine Study Program, applying measurable and professional supervision standards.

A total of 299 prospective students took the CBT held on Monday, August 3, 2026. They had registered during the July 9–31, 2026 period and are competing for a place in UIN Sunan Kalijaga's Medicine Study Program.

To ensure the selection process remained objective, transparent, and accountable, the organizing committee applied a number of oversight mechanisms. All participants underwent a body check before entering the examination room. Throughout the test, each room was monitored by both room supervisors and IT supervisors to ensure the entire process followed proper procedure while safeguarding the integrity of the CBT.

Head of Admissions at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Handini, M.I.Kom., explained that the service system and selection mechanism for the second batch still follow the standards applied in the first wave. The difference lies in the exam schedule, which was consolidated into a single day due to the larger number of participants.

“This time, we held the exam in a single day to make the selection process more efficient. We prepared three examination rooms: the Faculty of Medicine's Computer Laboratory, and Training Room 1 and Training Room 2 in the Old Rectorate Building. With a much larger number of participants compared to the first wave, holding the exam in one day was the most effective option without compromising the quality of service or the readiness of the exam equipment,” Handini said.

She also reminded all participants to rely on their own abilities during the selection process and to uphold honesty.

“We hope participants stay motivated, take care of their health, and trust in their own abilities. Any form of cheating will be detected and will ultimately only harm the participants themselves,” she said.

The CBT selection is the initial stage before participants proceed to further stages of selection. Following the CBT judicium session planned for August 5, 2026, results will be announced the same day at 3:00 PM WIB. Participants who pass will then proceed with payment for the psychological test and confirmation of parental attendance on August 6, 2026.

The next stage will take place on August 7, 2026, including the psychological test at the Faculty of Medicine's Theatrical Room, a parent interview, and a health examination at UIN Sunan Kalijaga's Pratama Clinic. The entire selection process will conclude with the final judicium on August 10, 2026, and the final announcement on August 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM WIB.

For UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, the selection process is not only aimed at identifying candidates with the strongest academic ability, but also at recruiting prospective students who possess integrity, mental readiness, and a commitment to pursuing medical education professionally. Through a measured, multi-stage selection process, the university seeks to ensure that the quality of medical education is built from the very point of entry, so that it can produce doctors who are competent, ethical, and ready to contribute to improving the quality of public health services.
