Ahead of the 2026 Academic Culture and Student Orientation (PBAK) program, set to run August 19–21, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta refined its preparations through a final committee coordination meeting on Friday, August 14, 2026. The meeting marked an important stage in ensuring that the entire PBAK program runs in a coordinated, orderly way, in keeping with the spirit of a humanist and integrative campus
The meeting, held in the 1st Floor Meeting Room of the Prof. K.H. Saifuddin Zuhri PAU Building, was led by Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation Prof. Abdur Rozaki, together with PBAK 2026 Chair Dr. Saifuddin, Vice Deans for Student Affairs from various faculties, DEMAU Student President, the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Communication Forum, and the entire PBAK 2026 committee. The meeting followed up on the inauguration of the university- and faculty-level PBAK committees held on August 6, 2026.
During the meeting, the committee finalized a detailed rundown and agenda for all three days of PBAK. Discussions covered committee arrival and preparation, attendance-taking for new students at each faculty, mobilization between locations, the Dhuha prayer, the Rector's address, students' movement to the Multi Purpose (MP) Building, and performances by various Student Activity Units (UKM), among other items.
Mobilization logistics were a particular focus. The committee mapped out staging points for new students at each faculty, parking locations, movement routes, and entry-exit arrangements at various activity sites. These arrangements were put in place to prevent overcrowding and to ensure every stage of the program runs on schedule. During the discussion, Prof. Abdur Rozaki also emphasized the need to coordinate with mosque caretakers (takmir) so that both the mobilization process and the practice of worship can proceed smoothly.
"Don’t leave everything verbal. There has to be something in writing, so the flow is clear and everyone has something to follow," Prof. Abdur Rozaki said, stressing the importance of written guidance for on-the-ground implementation.
The PBAK program also sets aside dedicated space for students to get to know student life through the introduction and performances of various Student Activity Units (UKM). During the meeting, the committee discussed making sure UKM introductions aren't limited to presentations, but are packaged creatively through artistic performances and shows. A number of UKMs will have the opportunity to introduce their activities and potential to new students, while also showcasing the many spaces available at UIN Sunan Kalijaga for developing interests, talents, creativity, and achievement.
The presence of UKMs is an important part of PBAK, since student life is one of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta's core strengths. UKMs are not just a venue for student activities; they're also a space where creativity, achievement, idealism, care for others, and community can grow. For that reason, introducing UKMs during PBAK is meant to give new students an early picture of the many spaces available for developing their potential throughout their time at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.
Information readiness was also part of the finalization process. The committee made sure every detail of the program's flow could be communicated to relevant parties through written guidelines, so that coordination on the ground can run effectively rather than relying solely on verbal instructions. Supporting data on new students, including health information, was also given attention to help ensure PBAK runs safely and responsively.
This finalization carries forward the spirit affirmed at the inauguration of the PBAK 2026 committee, held under the theme "Prophetic Humanization and Critical Consciousness in the Age of Technopoly." That theme serves as the foundation for preparing PBAK as an initial space for new students to become familiar with academic tradition while also building critical awareness and humanist character.
Through coordination across the university, faculties, the student committee, and UKMs, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta continues to ensure PBAK 2026 is thoroughly prepared, down to the technical details. In this way, PBAK becomes more than simply a program for welcoming new students; it becomes an early experience of academic and student life, and a first taste of the humanist and integrative values that define UIN Sunan Kalijaga's character.
