Entering the 2026/2027 academic year, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is equipping new students with an understanding of academic information systems, administration, and services. Through the Academic Information System Orientation for New Students of the 2026/2027 Academic Year, students are introduced to the various regulations and services that will play an important role throughout their studies at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

The orientation is being held in stages from September 1–4, 2026, for new students across all faculties. New students attend according to their respective faculty's schedule via Zoom Meeting. In the session for the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences (FADIB) on Tuesday (9/1/2026), 656 new students took part in the orientation, with nearly 500 students joining online.

The orientation material covers three main areas: Academic Administration, the Academic Information System, and Academic Services. This preparation is expected to help new students understand academic procedures while also becoming familiar with the official information channels they can rely on throughout their studies.

One of the speakers, Pamuji, S.Ag., S.IPI., M.IP., reminded students to be careful in receiving and sharing information related to academics. He said that information should refer to official circulars, information from the academic office, the academic calendar, or announcements from university leadership, and cautioned students against immediately trusting unverified information—such as messages circulating on WhatsApp that turn out to be false or hoaxes—delivered during the FADIB orientation session via Zoom on Tuesday (9/1/2026).

That message became an important part of preparing new students amid the heavy flow of digital information. Students are required not only to understand academic procedures, but also to develop the skill of sorting information and verifying its accuracy through the university's official channels.

During the orientation, students were introduced to various important aspects of the academic journey in UIN Sunan Kalijaga's undergraduate program. The material covered the legal basis of academic regulations, registration and re-registration, completing the Study Plan Card (KRS), coursework and study periods, academic evaluation, academic leave, Community Service Program (KKN), thesis/final project, online graduation determination (yudisium), commencement, diplomas, transcripts and the Diploma Supplement Certificate (SKPI), as well as provisions on dismissal/discontinuation of study, Student ID Cards (KTM), and various other academic regulations.

This early preparation is part of UIN Sunan Kalijaga's effort to ensure students have a sufficient understanding of their rights, obligations, procedures, and the stages they will go through as members of the academic community.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, UIN Sunan Kalijaga admitted 5,712 new students across eight faculties. This number reflects the growing range of academic fields available at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) recorded the highest number of new students at 1,032, followed by the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) with 874 students, and the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) with 780 students.

Next, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) admitted 711 students, the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences (FADIB) 656 students, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (Fishum) 564 students, the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication (FDK) 549 students, the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought (FUPI) 495 students, and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) 51 students.

The presence of new students from these diverse academic fields strengthens UIN Sunan Kalijaga's ever-growing academic ecosystem. Beyond expanding its range of study programs, UIN Sunan Kalijaga also continues to build an academic service system that supports students from the start through to the completion of their studies.

The Academic Information System Orientation is held according to each faculty's schedule. The series of sessions began on Tuesday (9/1/2026) for FADIB, FDK, and FSH. It continued on Wednesday (9/2/2026) with orientation for new FITK and FST students.

On Thursday (9/3/2026), it was FEBI's turn to take part in the orientation, while on Friday (9/4/2026), the series concluded with sessions for new Fishum and FUPI students.

The sessions featured speakers from academic administrators and related service units within UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The material was tailored to the needs of new students in each faculty, while remaining consistent with the university's academic guidelines and regulations.

Through this program, new students are not merely introduced to the academic information system, but are also guided toward building a disciplined, independent, and responsible academic culture. Understanding academic procedures from the outset is expected to give students a solid foundation for a more focused course of study.
