UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, through its Centre for Integrative, Interconnected, and Transformative Studies (CIINTRA), in collaboration with the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Development (BPIP), will hold the National Symposium on Integrative Pancasila Education on Monday (7/27/2026) at the Convention Hall, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.
The event will serve as a national academic forum, bringing together academics, policymakers, cultural figures, educators, and students to discuss the strengthening of Pancasila Education through integrative, interconnective, and transformative approaches. The symposium is expected to become a space for generating new ideas so that Pancasila is understood not merely as subject matter to be studied, but as a set of values shaping education, policy, and social life.
Director of CIINTRA at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Dr. Eva Latipah, will deliver academic remarks on the importance of Pancasila Education from an integrative, interconnective, and transformative perspective. According to her, Pancasila Education needs to be developed by connecting various academic disciplines with religious values, spirituality, national identity, and social reality, so that it can shape character while also delivering real impact for society.
“Pancasila needs to be presented not merely as knowledge to be memorized, but as a set of values that connects scholarship, spirituality, national identity, and humanity. Through this symposium, we hope to encourage the emergence of ideas and practices in Pancasila Education that are more contextual and impactful for everyday life,” said Eva Latipah.
Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, Ph.D., is scheduled to open the event and deliver remarks on UIN Sunan Kalijaga's commitment to strengthening Pancasila Education through higher education, as well as expanding strategic collaboration with BPIP. Universities, he noted, hold an important role in fostering critical thinking, strengthening religious moderation, nurturing diversity, and instilling national values through education, research, and community service.
Meanwhile, Head of BPIP, Prof. K.H. Yudian Wahyudi, Ph.D., will deliver a keynote speech on BPIP's policy direction in strengthening Pancasila Education as a living ideology. His presentation will examine the importance of implementing Pancasila values across public policy, institutional culture, the educational process, and everyday practice, as a foundation for facing the nation's various challenges.
The National Symposium will also feature four prominent academics as panelists: Prof. Dr. M. Amin Abdullah, Prof. Dr. Phil. Sahiron Syamsuddin, M.A., Prof. Dr. Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin, and Prof. Dr. Melani Budianta, with Dr. Sujadi, M.A. serving as moderator. The discussion will explore a range of perspectives on Pancasila, spanning the ethics of scholarship, the relationship between religion and national identity, gender and global humanitarian perspectives, and cultural practice within Indonesia's pluralistic society.
Beyond the academic forum, the event will also feature the Al-Mizan arts performance, a cultural and artistic showcase by KOMJAL, the announcement and presentation of awards for the National Scientific Essay Competition at the high school (SMA/MA) and university levels, and the National "Pancasila Hidup" ("Pancasila Alive") Exhibition, showcasing a range of works, ideas, and good practices in the implementation of Pancasila values.
At the close of the event, a drafting team will present a set of recommendations arising from the symposium, intended to form the basis for strengthening strategic cooperation between BPIP and CIINTRA UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in advancing Pancasila Education across Indonesia.
Through this symposium, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta affirms its commitment as a university that continues to develop an integrative-interconnective academic paradigm, while contributing to the strengthening of Pancasila ideology through scholarly study, cross-sector collaboration, and community service.
