UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta: The Top Choice for SPAN-PTKIN Applicants in 2023

By the grace of God,UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta was ranked first among the State Islamic Religious Colleges (PTKIN) in terms of popularity among Prospective New Students who applied through the 2023 National Academic Achievement Selection (SPAN-PTKIN). This information was announced by the National Committee for New Student Admissions PTKIN 2023, on March 7 2023 through the official SPAN-UMPTKIN website.

SPAN-PTKIN is a national selection pattern for all colleges in one integrated system by the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia for students of MA/MAK/SMA/SMK/Formal Diniyah Education/Equality Education Pondok Pesantren Salafiyah/Mu’adalah Muallimin/Mua’dalah Salafiyah who sit in the final class of 2023. SPAN-PTKIN is a national selection program for students who want to enroll in State Islamic Religious Colleges (PTKIN) in Indonesia. It is based on academic performance and portfolio, without written exams. It is free of charge for students.

UIN Sunan Kalijaga has attracted the highest number of applicants among the 59 PTKINs (Islamic Higher Education Institutions) in Indonesia, with a total of 31,931 applicants competing for 4,252 seats across various study programs. The university offers 24 religious study programs for the SPAN-PTKIN path, with a quota of 545 seats. This achievement highlights the quality, trust, and reputation of UIN Sunan Kalijaga as one of the top PTKINs in Indonesia.

UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta takes second place with 29,467 interested applicants, followed closely by UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung with 28,960 applicants, and UIN Walisongo Semarang with 19,418 applicants. Last but not least, UIN Imam Bonjol Padang secures the fifth spot with 18,714 aspiring students.
